Nutribullet Pro Review- The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly

Hello hello lovelies, it is time for the percolator! Ok its not. I don’t even really know what that means, it is just some lyrics from some song that happens to be in my head (big ups if you know the song!).

Really it is time for the Nutribullet Pro 900w Review. So if you are considering the purchase of this lower- costing blend baby blender then read on as I will give you my take on all that is Nutribullet v.2.0.

The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly

The Good: Great for those who live life on the go, can blend while you do something else, very easy to use, and awesome in that it almost impossibly easy to clean.

The Bad: Not as heavy duty as some of its more expensive counterparts, the plastic pieces have been prone to break.

The Ugly: Unlike super machines like the Vitamix, you must finely chop fruits and veg for it to blend fully. Some experience overheating problems and crushing ice can be a task at times.

What is Nutribullet Pro?

Nutribullet Pro is basically the Nutribullet version 2.0. It is the same machinery as the original but has a few new additions like 900 watt power rather than 600w and 3 extra parts making it a 15 piece set rather than a 12 piece one. You get x1 32-ounce cup, x2 24-ounce cups and x1 18- ounce cup along with 2 blade attachments and a variety of lids. After preparing the fruit and veg that you want to include in your smoothie you add water, attach your blade of choice, flip the container along with its contents on its head and twist it on to the plugged in base. That’s all you need to do as the power will keep spinning until you manually stop it by twisting in the opposite direction. The Nutribullet pro also comes with a booklet that offers various smoothie and health drink recipes to which I have yet to follow (I just make my own by throwing all my veg and a couple fruits in each week!)

What I Like Best

    • The best part of the Nutribullet in my opinion is the way that I can make a green drink, remove the blade and place a lid on it to take on the go or to store in my fridge for the week. With other blenders I have to transfer the contents into another container in case my partner wants to use the blender which is quite a nuisance as I can be quite lazy in that regard! However, with the Nutribullet we can each use our own and I have access to the smallest cup whenever I need to take my green drink on the move.
    • It is very convenient to be able to twist the largest container on with all my healthy foods and not have to hold it down.
    • Super easy to clean. With blades being attachments of their own instead of being at the bottom of the pitcher like with regular blenders, cleaning is no problem in the slightest. I usually can give a quick rinse and they are back to best within minutes.

    • The caps (lids) and blade attachments are all the same circumference so they fit on every cup that comes with the bullet. This is so convenient in my opinion and if (this very rarely happens with my precious things) one ever went missing then all the others can easily fit the bill.

  • Storage. It is compact enough to sit in the corner and I absolutely love that it is not gaudy. The design allows it to fit in well with the decor of my kitchen which is really important to me.
  • Both blades work the same and though the one with more blades looks like it will blend best, I find them both to be adequate for all of my juicing purposes.
  • I LOVE the spill- proof lids! It has to be one of the best features for me. No leaks in the slightest which, as a woman on the go, means the world to me!

What You Should Know

    • The instructions in the manual clearly state that the machine should not go on in a continuous state for over a minute. This can be a bit of a nuisance because it does not always blend completely in this amount of time. I know two people who had the original Nutribullet and both saw their blenders die and attribute it to blending for more minutes than is recommended.
    • I can be quite lazy sometimes and so love when the tools in my life make things go smooth. Like I mention above, the Vitamix (which is heralded as one of the best blenders there is) can smoothly blend something like an avocado pit without any trace of chunks. The Nutribullet, however, needs more preparation in what goes into its cups meaning that it works best when larger/more sturdy fruits and veg are chopped as fine as possible.
    • The cups are made of hard plastic and if you do not take care when blending you can easily snap the plastic on the cups. It is not a delicate machine, per se, but making your drinks should not be rushed or forced because snapping one too many of your plastic holdings means that the machine will not register the twist, meaning no blend for you!
    • If contents happen to splurt out and leak into the base it can feel quite scary. This has happened to me about 5 times and each time I have unplugged the machine and flipped it over onto a towel so that any of the smoothie that spilled out could ease its way onto the towel instead of swiveling around in the precious hardware. This has always occurred from my lack of adhering to the “max” line that lets me know not to pack it too full (whoopsie!).
    • There have been a handful of times where I made a green drink only to have to add more water and re- blend because it is far to chunky to drink. Again this is very different from professional blenders like those from Vitamix and Blendtec.
    • The 900w series weirdly leaves out my favorite cup! The one with the attached handle. Instead it has an open lid with a handle attached meaning you can’t take a sealed cup with a handle on the go :(. If I did not already have the original cup with the handle attached I would be quite disappointed with the update.

Nutribullet Versus NutriNinja

Many reviewers and customers find that between the NutriNinja 900 and the Nutribullet Pro 900 the better option is the NutriNinja as it is said to crush ice better, not have any overheating problems, plus costs less than the Nutribullet with about a $40 difference.

Where Can I Buy the Nutribullet?

In the US, UK, and Canada many local shops and supermarkets will sell the 900w series for about $100-130. It can also be purchased on Nutribullet’s website ($100+) though the best deals can be found on Amazon.com, $75-100. Browse Amazon here to see the best deals.

Verdict

In my opinion the Nutribullet is a very handy blender and makes getting the necessary fruits and veg an easy feat. The best features are in the fact that is easy to clean and the variations in cups allow for many different recipes to be made or a whole lot of one recipe. I personally favor the Nutribullet because of its simple design, ease of cleaning, and the handy parts. I literally love how spill proof the cups are once they have on the lid as it makes the thought of travelling with them so convenient. I will say that if a professional blender is something that you are searching for, then the Vitamix or Blendtec (come back for my review about which of the two is better) brands are tried and true and do things that Nutribullet and NutriNinja can hardly dream of (if you want a blender reasonably similar to a Vitamix or Blendtec but $300 cheaper, the Nutribullet RX (1700w) might be something to consider). However, the Nutribullet Pro is a capable blender that is suitable for many and I am happy with the results I have had with it. Do keep in mind that most people would recommend the NutriNinja 900 series over this one. Is it because the Nutribullet has too much ugly?

  1. This is a very well written review! Everything I need to know about this product is right here. Thanks for this!
I think I might buy one!

  2. I for one have fallen in love with the nutribullet. I makes life so easy especially for those who are on the run for work, for class and for whatever other reasons. In the mornings I just blend my shake and just grab it in the cup and leave for work. Very simple and comes in very handy

    1. Hi Derwin, yes for me it is so very handy as well. I make my shakes for the week and take the small cup with the handle when I need to take my smoothie on the go. I am in love with the cups!

  3. I’m pretty sure my roommate used to have the Nutribullet blender. It worked great for us. Once he got it, everyone eat and drink healthier. Loved using those blenders. I’ve never tried using NutriNinja, vitamix, or Blentec but it’s good to know. Definitely consider all of them when I’m getting a new blender. Thanks for sharing!

    1. Yeah I find that it makes lie so much easier to have a blender and be able to add more nutrients into my body with mixing fruits and veg in. NutriNinja and Nutribullet are in the under $100 to just over $100 range but with the Blendtec and Vitamix you are looking at $400 for the cheapest versions. They are the gods of the blending world though so very worth the investment. If you are wanting something cheaper that still does the trick then the smaller costing ones make great counter companions.

  4. I am a fan of the nutribullet. I haven’t used it in a while…I know I should be… when I did use it, I lost 50 lbs. I used it along with exercising every day. It is very convenient and easy for me as well. Now that I’ve read your article, I’m going to start using it again today.
